Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy Diploma - a distance learning (home study) nutrition course with some tutorial attendance

Nutrition is a truly amazing subject. Nutritional healing can be defined as the study and interaction of nutritional factors with human biochemistry, physiology and anatomy. The application and knowledge of these interactions can be used to help prevent disease as well as in the improvement of health

HNC Naturopathic Nutrition TherapyHippocrates (460-377 BC), the Father of Medicine, said ''Let food be your medicine and let medicine be your food''. In modern times Dr Carl Pfeiffer, a pioneer in nutritional medicine, stated ''With an adequate intake of micronutrients most chronic diseases would not exist''

Through this course you will learn how to fulfil those ideals. We should never lose sight of the fact that food is our source of energy; it promotes our well-being, and the balance of the mind and our general health. Not only can an ‘inappropriate’ diet disrupt the digestive system, it can also affect the way the brain works, the balance of hormones, the immune system, our ability to cope with stress, the strength of the skeletal and muscular systems, in fact all aspects of life

Nutrition influences our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well-being but whereas some foods will profoundly enhance well-being, others may have a detrimental influence. The course will help you understand how, more than 2000 years after Hippocrates, we can still make food a medicine

Evidence of the benefits to health from the powerful combination of Nutritional Therapy with Naturopathic principles have been demonstrated since ancient times, having roots in traditional systems of healing such as Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine. HNC Naturopathic Nutrition TherapyThe Natural Healthcare College’s Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course integrates ancient wisdoms with modern evidence-based nutritional therapeutic approaches to bring you a truly 21st century learning experience

Naturopathy is a holistic, natural, healthcare system that recognises the healing power of nature present in all living things. As a healing system it aims to promote health and help to prevent disease by employing various natural therapeutic approaches, a cornerstone of which is nutrition.

How simple healing would be if we all had the same constitution, the same inherent strengths and weaknesses, and the same predispositions to particular diseases; we could hone our skills to a fine art. But, of course, we are not that boring, each of us having our unique characteristics, so why is it the Western approach is to treat us in very much the same way? An holistic approach to healing works by treating everyone as an individual rather than the convention approach of treating the disease or its symptoms. A truly holistic practitioner will take into account not just physical factors but also the influence of emotional and mental factors on health. Metabolically we are all different and this explains why a diet that works well for one person may be inappropriate for another. The 'one-size fits all' supposedly healthy diet simply cannot work for everyone. While the therapeutic approach may be based on nutrition, the skill of the therapist is to determine the appropriate nutrition for individual clients. The naturopathic influence of this course incorporates skills such as basic Iridology to help you almost instantly assess constitutional factors and predispositions that could be the causes of disease and to support the healing power of nature within us all – addressing the cause of disease is infinitely better than merely treating its symptoms. The World Health Organisation Global Strategy on Diet, Physical Activity and Health, 2004, highlighted the potential for improving health through measures that reduce the major risk factors for much of the morbidity and mortality in developed countries. Most of these risk factors are closely related to unhealthy diets, physical inactivity and obesity, leading to disorders that include cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and certain types of cancer, and contribute substantially to the global burden of disease, death and disability. Our Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy course provides a truly integrated approach to the use of nutrition to help you achieve the basic aims of the WHO

Iridology

From the very first module you will know how to resolve a number of common health problems, starting with the digestive system. Subsequent modules provide the building blocks to progressively increase your healing skills.
