Entry requirements
This postgraduate course may suit existing practitioners who wish to gain a qualification - either a Certificate or Diploma in Iridology (please see below for details). Prior training in Anatomy and Physiology is required, along with a diploma in a therapeutic science such as Naturopathy, Nutrition, Herbalism, Homeopathy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Aromatherapy, Reflexology etc. Natural Healthcare College offers a separate Anatomy and Physiology course for students who are missing this element; please refer to the Short Courses page for details.
Course structure
The course is divided into 6 illustrated modules, plus a final exam. The course meets the full requirements of the core curriculum of the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists International. From the very first module you’ll be able to start using your Iridology skills as you’ll learn about the basic iris constitutions, including their physical and personality characteristics, inherent predispositions, disease tendencies, pathways to disease and constitutional recommendations. Appropriate anatomy, physiology and pathology is integrated into the coursework notes at a level that relates to the interdependence and interactions between all organs and systems of the body that is so clearly demonstrated by Iridology
You can start the course at any time as there's no fixed academic year. Most of the study can take place by distance learning in the comfort of your own home. Upon completion of each module there is a written homework assignment to submit for assessment. You will also be asked to submit 10 case studies at periodic intervals throughout the course. Written feedback is given for each assignment and case study, and email and telephone support is available if needed. Attendance is required at a minimum of 1 x two-day tutorial (10 hours) before you complete Module 6. All tutorials are held in Devon
Study time
Each module represents in the region of 30 hours of study time. Additional research is encouraged over and above the extensive coursework notes
How long will it take to complete the course?
The answer to that is very much dependent upon the time you have available for study. The course provides the flexibility to study to some degree at your own pace but as it is intended for students who have a serious intention to include Iridology as part of their practice, you’ll be expected to commit to submitting a coursework assignment every 8 – 10 weeks
Assessment
Assessment is continuous throughout the coursework, followed by a final exam. An award can only be given upon successful completion of all aspects of the course
You will need to attend a minimum of 10 hours of tutorials at Natural Healthcare College before you complete Module 6
Qualification
Upon successful completion of the coursework modules and final exam, and having attended a minimum of 10 hours of tutorial time you will be awarded a Certificate in Iridology. This award can be converted into a Diploma in Iridology (entitling you to apply for membership of the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists International) upon completion of the additional attendance hours required by The Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists. The College can provide you with details of the Guild's requirements and how your current qualifications meet with the Guild's membership criteria.
Course accreditation
Natural Healthcare College’s Iridology course has been accredited by the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists. Our Diploma in Iridology will entitle you to apply for Guild membership at either full or associate level, depending on your therapeutic qualifications. The Guild is a member of the General Naturopathic Council, the Standards Council for naturopathy in the UK
