Iridology Course
Our distance learning Iridology course is accredited by The Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists International. The Guild is a member of the General Naturopathic Council, the Standards Body for naturopathy in the UK.
Iridology is a safe, inexpensive, non-invasive diagnostic technique involving the study of the iris. It can be integrated with orthodox and complementary medicine
When examined with a microscope it can be seen that the iris (the coloured part of the eye) is made up of thousands of individual ‘fibres’ that are considered to be exposed nerve endings. Via reflex actions these nerve ending can accurately give us a unique picture of the body’s constitutional strengths, weaknesses and predispositions; Iridologists consider details in the iris reflect changes in the tissues of the corresponding body organs. Commonly seen markings and colourings in the iris may suggest factors such as inflammation, stagnation, toxicity, weakness, tension and spasm in specific organs and systems
With this information you, as the practitioner, and your client are able to understand the likely triggers of presenting health problems and the pathways of disease. By making us aware of our predispositions, Iridology is a great way of helping people avoid the triggers that can sometimes result in a cascade of symptoms. How simple healing would be if we all had the same constitution, the same inherent strengths and weaknesses and the same predispositions to diseases and dysfunction. But, of course, each one of us has unique characteristics that Western medicine doesn't take into account. Even among holistic therapists, where diet is concerned there is a tendency to use the 'one-size fits all' philosophy based on presenting symptoms and that could be detrimental for some people, depending on their constitutional characteristics. Iridology can you help give individual advice to clients
However well trained we might be in our chosen therapies, without a diagnostic technique much of our advice is based on the symptoms the client has described to us. Wouldn’t it be useful to be able to identify the potential root causes, there and then in your consulting room? If your client has a digestive complaint would you like to be able to see whether the condition stems from the stomach, or the intestines, or the pancreas, or all three? Or, if your client has a skin complaint would you like to instantly see if the symptoms are being triggered by common factors such as digestive weakness, lymphatic congestion, toxicity or stress? Identification of weaknesses can help you guide your client to appropriate therapy and dietary choices. Why treat the symptoms when you have the potential to treat the root cause?
Do I need expensive equipment?
Iridologists may use a range of equipment, starting with a simple but highly effective magnifying glass and light. More advanced equipment includes cameras and slit-lamp microscopes to examine the iris. The markings you identify are compared to an iris chart that correlates zones of the iris with organs and systems of the body
At the start of my Iridology training, when I picked up the first set of course notes I thought ‘Wow, this is seriously clever stuff’. That opinion has never changed. In practice, I wouldn’t be without Iridology

I decided to enrol on the iridology course when I discovered its potential through studying the nutritional therapy course. I found it fascinating that you could see so much about a client just by looking at their iris. And I wasn’t disappointed. As I worked through the course I found that it unlocked more and more insights into clients’ health, and it helps you identify quickly and easily their inherited strengths and weaknesses. It can also give insights into a client’s personality traits which can help you in your approach and dealings with them. You can use it on many different levels, just from a client’s basic eye colour through to analysing the minutii of their iris patterns. I have found it invaluable in my client work and use it on a daily basis. Because this course is accredited by the Guild of Naturopathic Iridologists International, you can follow through with the attendance requirements and become a full Guild member which will become increasingly important as regulation of complementary therapies continues
